There are two key aspects to looking slimmer and wearing clothes that really flatter. The first is to choose clothes that lengthen and slim the body as a whole, the second is to wear clothes which hide, disguise and balance out areas of the body that are disproportionately larger than the rest. By making the whole of your body appear in proportion, you will automatically look slimmer and more streamlined.
Many people religiously stick to black clothing to make themselves look slimmer but actually there are plenty of other alternatives that can make you look slimmer. In fact any colour of clothing can look great if you choose the right style for your body shape. If you are struggling to move away from black, try navy, dark purple or dark grey which are all versatile and slimming alternatives.
One of the secrets of looking slimmer is to choose clothing that fits perfectly. Whilst you may think that baggy clothes help to hide bulges, they actually make you look bigger and bulkier. Clothes that are too tight are also unflattering as they tend to show and cause unsightly bulges and a give a lumpy silhouette.
You can draw attention away from a round tummy by wearing empire line tops and dresses. If you have larger hips and thighs, opt for a line skirts or dresses or boot cut trousers which will make your hips look smaller. You should also pay attention to lengths of skirts and jackets. Anything that finishes at a relatively wider part of the body will draw attention to that area. Unless you have great legs avoid very short skirts instead opting for knee length or even just below for a flattering look.
If you have large arms, then choose styles of womens clothes with arms or wear a light weight jacket or cardigan over short sleeved tops and dresses.
There are lots of ways that you can make your body look longer and slimmer. As a general rule anything that creates a vertical or diagonal line across the body will have slimming effect. Look for clothes with vertical or diagonal stripes or dresses with embellishment or detail that run diagonally across the dress. Looks for womens fashion that make the most of vertical lines including v necks, long jackets or cardigans worn open and long scarves and necklaces which hang down.
